History of Adhar
Shri. M. G. Gore, Founder Chairman of ADHAR, conceived a unique concept of having lifetime care providing institution formed and run by parents of Special Adults. This institution was aimed at addressing the needs and problems of the old parents and caregivers of adults with Intellectual Disability.
The humble beginning of the institution was made in the year 1990. Adhar is registered as “Association of Parents of Intellectual Disabled Children” under the Public Trust Act. Adhar is an institution run by the parents, of the parents and for the parents & their special children. A group of 20-30 parents from middle-class families came together under the strong leadership of Late Shri. M. G. Gore and started a residential institute at Badlapur in Thane district.
